Socks — Browse by Material

Five fiber families cover nearly every sock SKU we quote. Price bands below are industry reference ranges collected from wholesale sourcing data, confirmed per SKU and per factory during RFQ — not a quote.

Material 1 of 5

Cotton & Cotton Blends

The default base fiber for athletic, dress and everyday categories. Soft and breathable on its own, but with limited stretch recovery — which is why it is almost always blended with a small percentage of spandex for shape retention rather than run at 100%.

ParameterTypical RangeNotes
Typical blend share70–80% cotton, balance nylon/spandexConfirmed per SKU
BreathabilityHighBest for warm-climate and all-day wear
DurabilityModerate, improves with combed or ring-spun gradeGrade-dependent
Wholesale price band$1–$7 per pair ex-factory (standard $1–$2, combed $2–$4, ring-spun $3–$5, long-staple/Pima $5–$7)Reference range, confirmed per order
Typical certificationOEKO-TEX Standard 100Documentation supplied per order
Material 2 of 5

Bamboo Viscose / Bamboo Fiber

A regenerated cellulose fiber spun from bamboo pulp, requested for its soft hand-feel and the moisture-absorption and odor-control properties commonly associated with it. Positioned as a premium alternative to plain cotton in comfort and dress lines.

ParameterTypical RangeNotes
Typical blend share30–70% bamboo viscose, balance nylon for abrasion resistanceConfirmed per SKU
BreathabilityHigh, moisture absorption is the main selling pointModel dependent
DurabilityModerate alone; nylon blending is standard practiceBlend-dependent
Wholesale price bandPremium tier, roughly $3–$8 per pair ex-factory at standard volume; lower-volume trial runs typically run higherReference range, confirmed per order
Typical certificationOEKO-TEX Standard 100Documentation supplied per order
Material 3 of 5

Merino Wool Blend

Requested for natural temperature regulation and odor resistance, most often in outdoor and cold-weather SKUs. Merino is the most expensive common raw fiber input (roughly $8–$15/kg vs. $2–$4/kg for polyester), and pure merino alone wears through faster at high-friction points, so quality blends almost always add nylon reinforcement.

ParameterTypical RangeNotes
Typical blend share55–65% merino wool, 30–40% nylon, 3–5% spandexConfirmed per SKU
Warmth / breathabilityNatural temperature regulation, most requested for outdoor and cold-weather useModel dependent
DurabilityLower for merino alone; nylon reinforcement is standardBlend-dependent
Wholesale price bandPremium tier, roughly $4–$10 per pair ex-factory depending on merino percentageReference range, confirmed per order
Typical certificationOEKO-TEX Standard 100Documentation supplied per order
Material 4 of 5

Nylon-Spandex Compression-Knit

A nylon-dominant blend with a small percentage of spandex knit at tighter tension across a specific zone — typically the arch or cuff — for shape retention. This is a structural knit-tension design choice, the same category covered on our Arch Support product page, and is not a medical compression-therapy claim.

ParameterTypical RangeNotes
Typical blend shareNylon base with 3–7% spandex in the tensioned zoneConfirmed per SKU
FunctionShape retention and structural arch/cuff tension, not a medical compression claimSee certifications.html
DurabilityHigh, nylon-dominant blends resist abrasion wellModel dependent

Material 5 of 5

Moisture-Wicking Synthetic

Engineered polyester-family fibers (including recycled PET) built to move moisture to the outer knit surface faster than natural fibers alone. The standard choice for athletic and work categories where repeated washing and abrasion resistance matter more than natural-fiber feel.

ParameterTypical RangeNotes
Typical blend shareBase or blended fiber, often paired with cotton or spandexConfirmed per SKU
FunctionEngineered moisture transport to the outer knit surfaceModel dependent
DurabilityHigh, resists abrasion and holds shape across repeated washingBlend-dependent

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can we mix two materials in one private-label order?

Yes. Multi-category private-label orders commonly mix, for example, a cotton-based dress sock line with a moisture-wicking synthetic athletic line, consolidated into one shipment. Each line is quoted and sampled separately.

Which material has the shortest sample lead time?

Cotton and moisture-wicking synthetic blends are the most commonly stocked yarn types across partner factories and typically sample fastest, in the 10–15 business day reference range. Merino and bamboo blends can take longer if the specific yarn lot needs to be sourced.

Does a recycled-content claim always need GRS certification?

If the recycled-content percentage needs to be formally verified for marketing or retailer compliance, yes — GRS certification should be confirmed with the specific factory and material batch, since it applies at that level rather than automatically to every recycled-content SKU.

Can material choice affect which certifications apply?

OEKO-TEX Standard 100 applies across all five material families when the finishing chemicals meet the standard. CPSIA applies by end market (children's products shipped to the US) rather than by material. GRS applies specifically where recycled content is claimed.

Not sure which material fits your price point?

Send your target retail price, market and volume — we will recommend a material and match it to a verified partner factory.
